Living in Pacific/Mission Beach

Pacific Beach is the quintessential Southern California beach community. Bordered by La Jolla to the north and Mission Beach/Mission Bay to the south. Pacific Beach is a short 15 minute drive to Downtown and San Diego International Airport. PB, as the locals call it, has a population of around 42,000 residents. PB has a younger age demographic in comparison to other parts of San diego primarily due to it's great location with easy access to all 3 major colleges in San Diego. However, the population is quickly becoming older, and more affluent as home prices continue to rise in this highly desirable beachside community. 

Pacific Beach stretches for miles from the Mission Bay peninsula to the seaside cliffs of La Jolla. The boardwalk, officially called Ocean Front Walk/Ocean Boulevard, is a pedestrian walkway that runs approximately 3.2 miles along the beach.  There is a wide array of local shops, bars, and restaurants along the boardwalk. The iconic Crystal Pier and hotel is where the popular Garnet Avenue meets the Pacific and is one of the great landmarks in Pacific Beach. 

Pacific Beach is also home to one of San Diego’s best parks, Kate Sessions Park.  Kate Sessions Park features sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean, Mission Bay, Downtown San Diego, and Coronado Bay Bridge.  It is also a dog’s paradise as there are walking trails and an expansive green space.
